In a wide green meadow lived a young rabbit who always ran along the same narrow trail through the grass.
Day after day he followed it. The earth became smooth and hard beneath his feet, and the path was easy to run. Without thinking, his paws always returned to that trail.
But the path led him near a dangerous place where foxes often wandered.
One morning the rabbit decided to try a different direction.
He stepped into the tall grass beside the old trail. The ground was uneven, and each hop required more effort than before. Sometimes he stumbled, and sometimes he almost turned back to the familiar path.
But he kept choosing the new direction.
After many days, the grass began to bend beneath his feet. A new trail slowly appeared across the meadow.
The old path still remained, but the rabbit no longer followed it.
And soon the new trail became the one he ran every day.
The meadow had not changed.
But the rabbit had learned where to place his steps.
